Luke describes a large group (Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James and other women) who encounter two men, later described as angels, who inform them of Jesus’ resurrection (Lk ).   I’ve had skeptics tell me that they cannot believe that Jesus rose from the dead because there are supposedly contradictions in the order of post-resurrection appearances in the gospel accounts or because only Matthew includes strange details about saints rising and appearing in Jerusalem (Matthew –53).Author: Tim Chaffey.

Thereafter, Ladd moves on to the best part of the book, which is several chapters examining beliefs about the after-life and resurrection in the Old Testament and ancient Judaism, as well as a chapter about messianic expectations and how they related, if at all, to resurrection belief.   "More people have problems with Easter because it requires believing that Jesus rose from the dead," said Jesuit Fr. James Martin, author of the new book, Jesus: A Pilgrimage. "But believing .

Instances of resurrection are likewise recorded in 2 Kings and 2 Kings In the first case, the prophet Elisha asks God to revive a young boy. In the second case, a man is resurrected when his body is cast into Elisha's grave and touches the prophet's bones.   Lee’s books The Case for Faith and The Case for Christ are some of my favorite books on apologetics, as is Evidence That Demands a Verdict, by Sean’s dad Josh McDowell.. And if you haven’t seen the movie The Case for Christ, which is the story of Lee Strobel’s conversion, by all means watch if you “hate Christian movies because they’re so cheesy,”:) I think you may like.

INTRO.- ILL.- Lee Strobel was an atheist who turned to Christ. He was the former award-winning legal editor of The Chicago Tribune, is a New York Times best-selling author of nearly twenty books and has been interviewed on numerous national television programs, including ABC’s 20/20, Fox News, and : Steve Shepherd.

In this book, Ladd examines the biblical and historical data surrounding the resurrection. He makes a case for the resurrection as both a historian and as a theologian.

He weighs alternative exegetical and historical explanations but concludes that Jesus really experienced a bodily resurrection from the dead. As for His resurrection, there are several lines of evidence which make for a compelling case.

The late jurisprudential prodigy and international statesman Sir Lionel Luckhoo (of The Guinness Book of World Believing in the Resurrection book fame for his unprecedented consecutive defense murder trial acquittals) epitomized Christian enthusiasm and confidence in the strength of the case for the resurrection when.

The Book of Mormon also elucidates the timing and stages of the Resurrection. The Book of Mormon reaffirms the biblical truth that Christ was the first person to be resurrected, but gives more information.5 It states that the “first resurrection” began with Christ, and consisted of the righteous people who lived between the time of Adam and.

The Eyewitness Testimony That'll Make You Never Doubt the Resurrecti. Why I Shouldn’t Believe in the Resurrection, But Do FAITH In the modern world, it’s become harder to justify believing that Jesus physically rose from the dead.

RESURRECTION by NEVILLE GODDARD This book is an attempt to reduce the unknown to the known, by The injunction, to pray believing that you already possess what you pray for [Mark ], is based upon a knowledge of the law of inverse transformation.

If your realized prayer produces in you a. Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

A key insight for me in both the video and book is the unanimous consensus that the biblical word used for "resurrection" always and everywhere referred to a physical body. Most of the other insights are along these lines, supporting the fact that the Biblical text is a reliable witness to the traditional Christian account of Christ's resurrection.5/5(3).

Resurrection or anastasis is the concept of coming back to life after a number of religions, a dying-and-rising god is a deity which dies and resurrects. Reincarnation is a similar process hypothesized by other religions, which involves the same person or deity coming back to live in a different body, rather than the same one.

The resurrection of the dead is a standard eschatological. Compare major beliefs of seven different Christian denominations: Anglican / Episcopal, Assembly of God, Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Roman Catholic.

3) N.T. Wright. Want a challenge. How about this page treasure by N.T. Wright. In the book, There is a God, former atheist philosopher Anthony Flew said this guy presented the best defense of Christianity he’d ever read. Wright asks the question, why did.

” Journal of the Book of Mormon and Other Restoration Script no. 2 (): 32– It is also notable that after Alma privately taught “concerning the resurrection of the dead, and the redemption of the people,” we learn that “many did believe on his words” (Mosiah –3).

Resurrection refers to the eventual reuniting of our body and soul. In his impressive seven-hundred-page tome The Resurrection of the Son of God, notable New Testament scholar N. Wright provides a most helpful definition of resurrection, which he repeats throughout the book as one of his main points.

I reject the claim that the Bible, both Hebrew Bible and Christian New Testament are inerrant documents of any kind. This is the second reason I reject the resurrection.

I believe that the New Testament resurrection narratives, along with 1st Corinthi are, juxtaposed together, are errant and fallible. I BELIEVE IN THE RESURRECTION.

1 Corinthians Sometimes it is necessary for Christian people to get back to the basics of their faith, to remind themselves what they are about. Here in 1 Corinthians, Paul is not teaching his readers something new, but reviewing that which he taught them from the very beginning (1 Corinthians   This is what Paul is saying in 1 Corinthians ; Christ’s own resurrection was the “first fruits” of the resurrection “harvest” of the believing dead.

The “first fruits” language Paul uses indicates something to follow, and that something would be His followers – the rest of the “crop.”. Why should I believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one.

In 1 Corinthians Paul asks, 30 Why are we also in danger every hour?. He means to say that if the dead are not raised, if there is no resurrection, then what is the point of believing in Christ, which only puts us in constant danger of being arrested and possibly even killed for “sedition” against the government and its approved gods?.

Job used a tree —perhaps an olive tree— to illustrate his confidence in God’s ability to resurrect him. An olive tree’s expansive root system enables it to rejuvenate itself even when the trunk has been destroyed.

As long as the roots remain alive, the tree will sprout again. How important is it that we believe in the forgiveness of sin? 6. Without a resurrection, how should believers be viewed? How could he make such a statement? But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. Those who believe in me will live even if they die.

New American Standard Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, King James Bible Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he .
